This is one of our Garden and Art Tours in the Netherlands and surrounding countries.

Day 1  Meet and greet you guide and bus at Schiphol airport. Depending on your arrival time we shall visit a cheese and wooden-shoe maker - a windmill - drive along dikes and rivers - visit a small but beautiful park then take a canal cruise. Dinner & overnight in Amsterdam

Day 2  Early rise today in order to visit the famous Aalsmeer Flower Auction  - continue via a a scenic road to the "Keukenhof Gardens'l after the visit and lunch we shall drive along the flower fields of Lisse, then continue to Amsterdam and visit 1 or 2 of the following museums: Anne Frank House   - the van Gogh  - the Rijks Museum - the Hermitage  .  Dinner & overnight in Amsterdam

Day 3  Drive to "Het Loo Palace"  in Apeldoorn - where our Royal family have lived and visit this beautiful Palace garden. Continue your tour by having lunch (on your own) in the most beautiful Natural Park of the Netherlands called "de Hoge Veluwe" here you can ride a bycycle on the bicycle paths  (included)  and enjoy nature. In the same park we shall enjoy the famous " Kroller-Muller " Museum  www.kroller-muller.com where you can find the 90 best paintings of Vincent van Gogh and others ...  Overnight in Otterloo

Day 4  Today we shall visit the famous Landscaper "Piet Oudolf" www.pietoudolf.nl - after the visit, stop on the way for lunch - then continue to the beautiful gardens of "Huize Bingerden" www.bingerdem.com . Dinner & overnight in Otterloo

Day 5  Drive to Ghent/Belgium - first visit is Brussels with a city tour and time for lunch - continue to Ghent www.ghent.be  for a short walking tour and visit of van Eijk's famous Altar piece " The Adoration of the Lamb" . Dinner & overnight in Ghent

Day 6  Today we shall visit 2 lovely private gardens in Belgium. Mrs DeSy-de Smet and Mrs Baltau Dinner and overnight in Ghent.

Day 7   We shall start our tour by visiting the very picturesque Belgian city of "Bruges" after the walking tour with your guide and some free time for lunch, we shall continue to Biggerkerke where we can visit Mrs Cijsouw's adorable private garden, then continue your tour by driving over the ingenious Delta Works and Storm Barrier - on our way to the hotel we shall have our city tour in the Hague, the seat of the government. We shall pass by the Queen's Royal Palace, the International Court of Justice etc. Dinner and overnight in the Hague.

Day 8  Depending on your flight, we shall visit the Maurits Huis Museum in the Hague (Vermeer's Girl with the Pealearring) www.mauritshuis.nl  - then drive to Delft for a visit of the famous Royal Delft Pottery factory www.royaldelft.nl  - have lunch and a short historic walking tour in Delft (where Vermeer and William the Silent have lived!) Transfer to the airport.

During your whole tour - by bus or walking - your guide will be commenting!

Also called the Venice of the North because it has more that 100 canals, a 1000 bridges, 2500 house-boats and just one natural river. The River Amstel.

 

This scenic sight-seeing tour is partly by van – boat and on foot! We will show you many interesting things in and around Amsterdam and also take you to the outskirts of Amsterdam to show you part of the country-side, while driving on a dike along the River Amstel and stop for a photo at a windmill.

 

Did you know that Amsterdam’s Rijks Museum is home to the great masters of the 17th century such as Rembrandt (the Night Watch) ,

Vermeer (the Milk Maid), Frans Hals, Jan Steen ...”

 

Tour the city by driving through the Dam Square, the Queen’s Palace, the skinny bridge, the Mint Tower, the Weeping Tower, the Red Light District, the Flower Market, the seven Bridges. We will enter the Anne Frank House and your choice of the Rijks Museum or the Van Gogh Museum.

 

If you prefer not to visit a museum then the tour will consist of the following the same description as above including the scenic canal cruise. Instead of the museums we shall visit a Cheese and wooden-shoe maker, situated on a dike, out in the country-side, there you get to taste about 6 different kind of Gouda cheese. Then visit the wooden-shoe maker where you will have a demonstration about how they make these clogs, which are still worn today by the farmers. Don’t forget to take your video camera with you!

 

Finally we’ll have facinating historic walking tour with your guide through the quaint neighbourhoods of Amsterdam and its legendary Red Light District, where numerous business in the sex industry flourish. A visit to the Diamond Factory can be added if you wish.

All tickets are pre-reserved so there is no waiting in line.

AMSTERDAM AND ITS SURROUNDINGS

 

 

We will take a scenic drive out to the country-side north of Amsterdam. While crossing polders, driving along canals and dikes, our first stop will be at an authentic cheese farm that makes delicious, mouth watering Gouda and Edam farmer’s cheese. You’ll get a private explanation and tour, showing you the interesting process cheese go through prior to selling in the supermarket.

Additionally, no cheese explanation is complete without a tasting! Sample the very delicious homemade cow, goat and sheep cheeses!

 

Midday we’ll travel to Volendam, a fishing village. Volendam is still well-known for its old fishing boats and the traditional clothing still worn by some residents. The women’s costume consists of high pointed bonnets and is often featured on tourist postcards from the area. You will have a short walking tour and plenty of free time to take pictures.

 

The next sop is the former island of Marken, famous for its beautiful wooden houses and interesting architecture. After a short walking tour through the village and have a lunch break.

Maybe you would like to eat some fried fish, or a typical Dutch pancake! For pancakes you should proceed to the next very picturesque small town bewfore we go to the Anne Frank House! They have delicious pancakes!

This same tour you can do without the Anne Frank House.

Instead of the Anne Frank House we shall take a canal cruise in Amsterdam (pre-reserved tickets).

The following is an example of an 8 Days Garden Tour in the Netherlands.
Other Garden Tours are available upon request.

AMSTERDAM - DELFT - HAARZUILEN - WOLFHEZE


Day 1 Meet and greet the group at Schiphol Airport.
First stop is at a Canal Cruise. After lunch visit the Hortus Botanicus in Amsterdam. Transfer and check in at your hotel.

Day 2
Enjoy an excursion to the Aalsmeer Flower Auction.
Drive with your guide towards Gouda along dikes, through picturesque villages , visit the "Windmill Paradise of Kinderdijk, enter a windmill. Continue to Delft for lunch enjoy a short walking tour of Delft. Time to visit the Royal Delft Pottery Factory. Paint your own Delft Blue tile, if you wish.Overnight in Delft

Day 3
Haarzuilen - Wolfheze
Via a scenic road, drive along the River Vecht and admire the 17th Century mansions and castles.
Enjoy lunch at the pancake restaurant in Haarzuilen.
Visit beautifully restored water castle "de Haar" in Haarzuilen. Overnight hotel in Wolfheze or surroundings.

Day 5
Today visit three private gardens.
First stop will be the private garden of Piet Oudolf, the private gardens at Huize Bingerden, Time for lunch then continue to the private garden of Mrs Riet Brinkhof.

Day 6
Today we drive to Noordwijk,
stop on the way to visit the Flower Parade (in April) continue to your hotel in Noordwijk (or the Hague) at the beach of the the North Sea.

Day 7 Drive through a scenic road to the Flower fields to Keukenhof.
Enjoy the wonderful Spring Flowers all day long. Drive to the Hague for a city tour and have your farewell dinner at a restaurant in the Hague. Back to your hotel in Noordwijk (or the Hague).

Day 8 Transfer to Airport for your return flight.

Keukenhof Gardens - The famous spring flower garden PDF Print E-mail

This special itinerary is only available in the spring when the famous Tulips of Holland are blooming. After meeting your private licensed guide you depart for the Keukenhof Gardens at Lisse. En route you see many scenic roads, dikes and many photo stops!

Once you arrive at Keukenhof, you will enjoy the 70 acre park which consists of gardens and greenhouses dedicated solely to Tulips. Nowhere else in the world are the flowers and colours of the spring as glorious as at Keukenhof. This Flower Park offers you the opportunity to see millions of bulbs in bloom, fantastic flower shows and the largest sculpture park in the Netherlands. Enjoy the spring!

As you walk along the footpaths you will understand why this is said to be the greatest flower show in the world. In fact there are over 8 million bulbs planted each year. Enjoy the splendour of spring! Of course we shall also have a tour among the Flower Fields.

You can add a visit to one of the following:  the Windmills of Zaanse Schans - Volendam - Amsterdam, if you choose to stay 2 - 3 hours at Keukenhof.
